Welcome to the Jackson Select Soccer Club

Stark County's best youth soccer development program!

Jackson Select Soccer Club is a travel soccer club for those players that want to enhance their skills, play for one of the top programs in OHIO HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER!  It is currently the feeder system to the Jackson Boys Varsity Soccer
Program
who have been ranked one of the TOP 10 teams in the State for the
past several years. We need to continue to build on that success by having your
son join the program.

  1. JSSC focuses on both individual and team talent. We offer two practices per week in Jackson and at least one game per week in the spring and fall. Indoor soccer and additional training is available during the winter months. JSSC also attends a number of tournaments throughout the year and runs a soccer camp in the summer.

  1. We select those players we think have what it takes to be among the best in Ohio In addition to talent and skill, we look for those players who have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, are coachable, and are willing to commit to the hard work it takes to be successful.

  1. We play in the Greater Akron Soccer Association (www.GAASA.org). This organization fields talented teams from the greater Akron/Canton area and each age bracket is broken down into competitive levels.  Jackson consistently has teams at all age levels in the top competitive tier of this league.

  1. Our  coaching staff has many years of experience playing and coaching at various levels of soccer.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

and GOLD TEAM EXPECTATIONS:

Each team will have a  coach, a team coordinator, team uniforms, guidance and instruction from the director of coaching, and hands on administration from the club directors. They will also be able to compete against some of the best soccer teams in the greater Akron-Canton area. All practices and home games will be held at Strausser Elementary (U9-10), Jackson North Park (U11-12), and the Stuhldreher (U13-14) Soccer Fields.

Not every player will make a team and positions are not guaranteed from one season to the next – they must be earned.

Jackson Select currently offers two levels of play. The first level is players that have advanced their skills and can complete at a high level of competition. These are called the Gold teams. The Gold teams play at the highest competitive level available in the GAASA league. The second level of play is our developmental
teams.   These teams will compete with other teams that are comparable to their skill level within the GAASA league.

The commitment to be at the Gold level at JSSC is to commit to playing spring and fall outdoor as well as at least one season of indoor. Youth development training in soccer is different from many other sports. Each season brings new skills and concepts to increase the level of the individual player and the team. As the cognitive abilities of the players increases, so does the level of necessary training. Also, the foot-eye coordination is much more complex than hand-eye coordination that other sports mainly rely on.

Attendance at practices and games is expected. Commitment from players is needed for the team to be successful and for the individual to improve.

TRYOUT/ EVALUATION PROCESS:

Players will then be contacted by the Select organization regarding team placement. Placement on a team is not guaranteed. We realize everyone wants their child to be among the best – but that is not always in the best interest of the child.   If your son is not yet at a level where he can compete comfortably with the other boys his age, we will be honest with you. Nothing is more discouraging to a child than always having to try to keep up with the others and knowing he is not able. It is not fair to him or to his team.

JACKSON SELECT FEES

Player fees vary by the season (usually between $150-$200) are due at the beginning of each spring and fall session. Tournament fees are extra. Indoor sessions and other training opportunities, such as footskills, are additional and cost will be decided upon per session. Uniforms are an additional cost and must be ordered through the JSSC.
